The latest COMC shipment added a few new cards to my mini-collection of cards featuring the King ("QUEEN!" - Mischief) of the Terriers. A snowy Friday seems like a wonderful day to show them off.
Upon this card's arrival it became the oldest card in my collection. It dates back to 1902. The Airedale only became a recognized breed in 1886 for the record. Would this be the Airedale's rookie card? These were found in packages of Jones Soda, which looks to be a precursor to Arm & Hammer Baking Soda. Baking Soda so wonderful that they have to take more room on the back warning consumers against buying an inferior product that it takes up more room than any description of the dog.
I'm fast forwarding all the way to the 90s for the other two cards featuring an Airedale. Kipper was the Airedale Terrier in the 101 Dalmatians movie, and was the hero among the other dogs in the movie, helping to rescue the puppies. The name Kipper does have another tie-in to my
collection as well. Of the various Airedale cards in my collection, these are certainly the curliest of the dogs shown on the cards.
And I like them at their curliest, just like big teddy bears!
"So, Mischief, what do you think of these cards?"
Zzzzzzzzzz.
