There is no better way for me to start the year than by showing off a couple of the most basic of the basic repacks from Dollarama.
To be specific, these two.Starting with what's behind Anders Bjork.
I'm already happy with the results of this repack bust. The Svoboda is, amazingly enough for me, a new card for the 2/14 collection. I always love getting random additions to the binder from the junk wax era - even now. Sens card! Even dupes several times over still make me smile. As for the others, that random player behind Korolev might be sporting one of the creepiest mustaches in trading card history. Blah ending for #1, but at least this is a one-time Sen.Behind Ceci, the cards aren't as interesting as the first with there not being any 2/14 needs in there. But at least I can throw that nice winter-themed mask of Fleury into the mask binder.Things get much more interesting in the second portion - at least in terms of photos. The mostly-empty arena during the warm-up can be an interesting backdrop, especially when used like it is there, with all the teammates and so many sections visible. It makes the arena and rink surface seem huge, something that really doesn't come across when you watch a game on TV. That overhead shot is another one you don't see much in hockey cards as opposed to basketball. Which I find strange as you can definitely isolate a camera over the net just like over the backboard. It will be hard for the finale to surpass those two great cards, but one of several attempts at having a Whale themed franchise in Connecticut is a nice try. There you have it!
Ah yes, that brief time when the Hartford Wolf Pack rebranded as the Whale. Nice thought, but it just didn't work.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I do have to track down that McDonagh for my Connecticut cards binder.
