Penmanship Binder Randomness

Exactly as it says in the title, some miscellaneous additions to the binder featuring people who are connected through having nice-looking autographs.

Generally, the requirement for the collection is legibility. I can't read Taywan Taylor's autograph as cursive, but it does have a uniqueness. A figure 8 is so much nicer than a little squiggle after your initial. That's enough to qualify him for the collection.

Brian St. Pierre was drafted in 2003. It wasn't until January of 2010 that he finally completed a pass in the NFL, doing so with the Cardinals. I prefer to think of it as he was still skilled enough to stick around rosters as a QB for years as opposed to mocking his lack of game action. All I have to do is think of who the Bills trotted out as starters over those years.

When I came across one of Chris Withrow's autos on COMC, I got two of them. One for this collection, and the other to send off to Night Owl

I picked this one up after Gage appeared in a handful of games for Toronto last year. Even if the portion of his first name with the double-T isn't the best, it is made up for with a really nice last name. Last year was his only season with Toronto, and didn't get any big league cards out of the deal, so this might be the closest I get to adding a card of his with a major league feel to it.
Cory Carr's NBA career lasted one season, but he spent about 18 years afterwards playing overseas, primarily in Israel. But if you're going to only have a short career in North America, including the NCAA, you might as well make your limited number of autographs memorable ones.
ITG's willingness to go deep into the history of hockey for their Between the Pipes releases means that there are opportunities to get autographs of players who didn't even get a lot of base cards over their careers show up there. And it means there are opportunities to get autographs like this of someone who was a back-up for most of their career. Such as Ron Grahame and his great-looking signature.

There you have it!

  1. I like that Bowman Withrow card.

Very random autograph that I thought looked nice is Jerry Moses, '70s catcher for several teams. It's based on his '75 Topps card so maybe cards he's actually signed might not look as spectacular.
