Quarter Box Chronicles - Day 4

Time to put the goodies from this show to bed.
There were a small number of canvas cards in the bin, so I grabbed the two that intrigued me most of all. David Booth is getting a welcome home from the fans in Florida. There area handful of cards where a player is getting a salute from a very visible sign. I'd rank this one over Evander Kane's 2013 UD entry, but below this year's Bobby Ryan, and 1997's Pinnacle of Matthew Barnaby.
A patriotic card with the appearance of a trophy (in this case, the Women's World Championship trophy) hits two of my favourite themes on one card.
Random retro parallel card. I'm not the biggest fan of this design, but I don't have too many of these in the misc. binder, so might as well grab one of a star player.
A mascot! I hope Bailey did get the fist bump from Drew Doughty. Something my googling taught me was that Bailey wears #72 since that is the average temperature in Los Angeles.
A car on a card? Sure thing.
Mike Bossy is wielding a flaming hockey stick. Your argument is invalid.
The best thing for my collections about this bin might have been the number of Tough Times inserts I got from early 2010's Panini releases. While these guys do make occasional appearances in recent sets, it is kinda fun to add cards of guys back when teams still had a regular enforcer or two on the bench.

And there you have it! Fin!

Tomorrow, I finally bust some 2017 Topps.

  1. That Bossy photo also appears in the 2001/02 Fleer Greats Of The Game set. Never understood the flaming stick.

  2. I think this was the best of the quarter box posts, I would have picked out every one of these myself. Nice hunting!

  3. I don't think I've ever seen those Pinnacle Tough Times inserts... but I really like them. Those "sign" cards are pretty cool too.

  4. I dunno... I think there needs to me fire on sports cards. It's kind of cool, especially if the athlete is known for having a blazing fastball or slapshot. Did Mike Bossy have a killer slapshot?
