You know the Mets season has been miserable this year when you think "At least he's getting Tommy John surgery while under contract to a different team". And you also await the very-deserved Schadenfreude for thinking it.
That's a VERY zero-year card, as he didn't even end up signing with the Mets at all. I had already put my Stars & Stripes card of him in a binder, though. Hope he ends up making it.
I was just writing about his chances with the Rangers when I saw the news. Man that sucks. Hope he bounces back.
Also, if I didn't know you were talking about Kumar, your ending paragraph could easily pertain to Jacob deGrom too. But I'd feel less bad for him/his team.
