Just One Card: But a 1/1

I opened a few e-packs while grabbing a Game-Dated Moments card I wanted, and in one of them landed a plate of some that I'd already forgotten the identity of. Either way, another user there wanted it, and I looked through their trade bait to notice a Riley Damiani Kitchener Rangers plate.

And a swap was made. This was back in March-ish, but it took until now for me to hit ship on my COMC order and for it to arrive. But here it is! Damiani is now in the Dallas Stars system, as a 5th rounder.

There you have it!

Mailbag: Football

Bring it home!
I'm not sure why I'm starting with the loudest, most obnoxious card in the mailer. But there was only one Steve McNair card for the 2/14 binders in there. Maybe that's the reason?
Also gaining 1 card, but a far rarer one, is Jadeveon Clowney, seen here on a Bowman printing plate from 2015.
Alshon Jeffery was the big winner here in terms of volume with these 4 cards.
Only two Jim Kelly cards, and he's now 4 short of the 200 mark in the binder. But it does lead perfectly to the Bills portion of the TMV mailer.
There was what had to be the entire 1992 Pro Set team set of the Bills with about 30 cards worth saluting playoffs and highlights.
I'm guessing all of these Wolverines turned Bills were dupes. They've got a good home now.
But here's a few without Wolverines connections (unless they played them at some NCAA point).
That's a nice big swatch, definitely worthy of the "Immense Materials" subset.
And let's throw in an autograph to end it.

Thanks, Dennis & Kerry, for all these cards over the past four posts. I'm still setting cards aside for future mailers that will head stateside.

It's Just a Box Break, You Should Really Just Relax - Part 3

All good breaks must come to an end, including these two boxes of MST3K cards. But here's some hits to take the edge off.
I didn't get any plates in the first two series of cards, but that changed here with a trio of them. Here's the cyan from the Vance mini-poster of Season 6's Girls Town.
Servo looks delightful here in nurse garb from Season 10's It Lives by Night.
Also Season 10 for plate #3, with the web making it obviously from Horrors of Spider Island.
Bat Servo! Even though I am Team Crow, it was nice to get a little bit of variety in my Bot art. This was sketched by Mai Irving, who also drew the P.T. Mindslap card from yesterday. You see, there was some method to my madness of which cards I showed off.
And my first sketch card of one of the humans! This Kinga is by Amanda Pattison, who also did the Donna St Phibes and Growler/Waverly cards from yesterday. Again - method. Madness.
And there were autographs in this as well! Each box contained one, and the first provided a Jim Mallon, who was an Executive Producer, but also provided Gypsy's voice. This is one of the white metal cards, which are the base versions.
Base versions means that there's parallel versions as well, and I got one of them! And it was of just another face in a red jumpsuit! WOO-HOO! I'm more of a Mike guy, since I work as a temp and feel a kinship. But in terms of hosting, I'm pretty neutral.
These gold parallels are hand-numbered to 6! And I really like how the certification is done with the photograph!

That was fun! Now I just have to get a binder, and a pile of pages to give these an even more worthy home!

Mailbag Wrap-up

I started posting the most recent envelope from Dennis @ Too Many Verlanders before the 12 RA Boxes of Christmas. With that well in the past now, I might as well wrap it up. I posted all the 2/14 content before, now I'm just going to do the rest in the order that the scans upload.
Starting off with a Kitchener Rangers alum. With hockey hair like that, you knew this had to be a card from the 80s.
We have a quick move over to baseball and my Mets collection with this swatch from Michael Conforto.
And although this is not obvious from the front, this is another Kitchener Rangers alum card, with that being Connor Bunnaman. He made his NHL debut this season in the opener with the Flyers, and got a Young Guns card in the first series. This 1/1 plate goes back to the Genesis release from 15/16 Leaf.
Both of my main baseball player PCs, Carlos Delgado and David Wright, have been neglected over the past season. Here is to hopefully getting it back going again.
The late James Hardy provides an on-foil autograph. This is from the mouthful of a subset named "2008 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia Rookie Premiere Materials Embossed Hologram Team Logo Signatures". Whew.
2006 Mets and Jays miscellany!
Hologram Eric Moulds! YES!
For the first time in the post, two groups of scans go together with some CanCon basketball. What is that made Nash and Rubio such an intriguing pair? They were skilled ballhandlers. That's all.
A trio of cards of a Canadian player lead into some from a Canadian team. That Ultra base card of Vince Carter is a beaut.
Sure, this isn't a certified auto. Who's forging Ed Sprague autos?
I might as well throw a Sens card in here as well with all the other miscellany.
Ending on acetate.

And that's a coffey.jpg through watkins.jpg ending to a mailbag. I've sent a return fire package, and that might even be posted between the time I write this and the time this goes live.

2/14 for 12/25 - Part 2

Today, things get really good.
There was only one baseball card in the entire 2/14 portion of the envelope, and that is even a somewhat questionable call. But it does have the Red Sox logo on it, but I'm counting Jules Asner herself towards miscellaneous, even if I keep the un-autoed version of this in the baseball portion of the binders.
A new face! And I have three of this autographs to welcome him into the collection. As with the entire tennis portion of my collection, I hadn't heard of the player prior to acquiring their cards. That will change when the latest COMC order arrives, and I add a card of Manuela Maleeva to the collection.
Hockey gets a pair of plates. The first features Boom Boom Geoffrion sharing his with Dickie Moore. Although he's unsigned by the Habs, Allan McShane was their draft pick, so I guess these can both be considered Montreal plates.
As with the pretty good portion, football leads the way with volume. It does the same here as well, and this starts with a quartet of relics, player worn and manufactured of Christian "Which Ocean?" Hackenberg.
Here's something rare for a dual rookie card. It is the 8th season since this card was released, and both these players are still active in the league (even though Alshon will miss the rest of the season after surgery this past week).
Staying with his rookie year of 2012, here's a plate of Alshon as well.
Here's another relic of the former #1 pick for my collection. Although I will repeat my desire for at least one card of him as a member of the Seahawks.
Let's throw in yet another 1/1 plate to keep the others company. This one originated in Playoff as a Headliners relic insert, but was a plate insert in Plates and Patches.
Sure, these relics are really gimmicky. Just like the towels and Santa hats that also appear in Black Friday sets. But I really like that I can look at this photo, and immediately notice exactly where on the wristband this item came from. This is a lava flow parallel, and although this one isn't numbered on card, the penny sleeve it was in indicated these parallels have a print run of 10.

And there you have it. I still have another non 2-14 team bag to get to, but since my posting schedule is now set for into early 2020, that will wait until then.

The 2/14 Remainder

Now, the cards from sports that have their own section in the collection, and not like soccer players forced to share space with politicians.
Can the AAF even count as one-and-done? Regardless, Topps issued cards for it, and I had the chance to add an on-card autograph of Jeff Luc into my collection. And since the AAF gave me the chance to add a new face to the collection, as well as possibly some more Christian Hackenberg.
The other gridiron card in this group was a lot more mainstream, but this is the 'minted in Canton' parallel.
Only one hockey card in this group, but it is still a 1/1. Bogdan looks to be back in the KHL at this point, but at least he spent enough time over here to get a Compendium card, and this cyan plate to go along with it.
A reprint allows Perry Lipe, and the Richmond Colts, to make debuts in the collection. A non-reprint of this is one of 3 cards from the era on my not-so-realistic wantlist.
Whether it goes in my 2/14 collection, or my Cancon collection, it is easy to find a home for Philippe Valiquette cards.
Abiatal Avelino reached the bigs in 2018 and 2019, but still has yet to get himself a Topps card. But Panini is still there in their unlicensed glory.
Despite all the Chronicles I've busted this year, I didn't come across this card on my journeys. So, I relied on COMC to add my first auto of him as a Giant, since he did have Bowman cards where he was a Yankee. He went west as part of the McCutchen trade.

And there you have it!

Chronicles Box Break - Part 2 - Acuña Matata!

I'll wrap up the wax portion of the Expo recap with these three packs. I'll be away for the weekend for Grey Cup, so I'll have some football posts set for a few days, and I'll resume Expo posts on Monday.

Pack 4:
Your base cards in this pack were very Chicago-intensive.
And things were also Chicago-intensive when I started with the parallels.
Numbered parallel #2. While green parallels in Panini-land are frequently numbered /5, this one adds a zero by being /50.
A busy pack with the second autograph in the box coming from this pack. Unlike the first auto, I'd heard of Cionel Perez, but only through his appearances on cards this season.

Pack 5:
MVP! MVP! Bellinger gets a couple cards, and the Chicago content continues.
You know it is an incredible pull if after pulling it, you immediately hit the floor of the Expo looking for an appropriately sized holder for it so it stays in good shape for the journey home. Yup, that's a 1 of 1 on-card autograph of one of the top young stars in baseball today. Earlier this year, an autograph of Acuña Sr came my way via trade for my Mets collection, and now I've got a great candidate to go alongside it.

Now, if someone offers up something similar for my Mets PC, that would be enough to get it out of my possession. But it would take something pretty nice to do so.

Pack 6:
Kinda irrelevant after the last pack, no? Although the Jays content is nice, it does get buried after the 1/1 auto.
