2019 Adventures in Repacks: Part 30 - While I Was Expo-ing

As this post goes live, I'll be making my way up and down the aisles at the Toronto Expo. So, in the meantime before I show off the spoils, here's stuff from a repack cube.

Specifically, this one.

My favourite card in the whole repack came out of the MVP pack. A 2/14 card, but amazingly enough, a low-end 2/14 card that I didn't already have. Although because their e-pack versions are cheap, I probably have the parallels already.

Throw in a Sens card and a silver sig rookie, and that might be one of the better five-card packs available.

Even the Score packages weren't bad, as all of these were needs in my "I swear, I'm not building the parallel  set" set build. I even got the one-per-box Hot Rookies parallel.

As for the flagship packs from 2015, a little underwhelming. One is an interesting photo worthy of the Canvas insert set. One is bland enough for an O-Pee-Chee release.

The grouping of MVP set parallels in this weren't the most incredible, but at least I got a couple of mask binder cards.

A couple of famous pro and minor league tough guys among the random cards, which were entirely mid 1990s sets. This Parkhurst release was the only official NHL card Bialowas got, but his minor league hi-jinks still made him a featured player in ITG Enforcers.

That's a mullet for the ages on the back of Elik's card.

Mid 90s Stadium Club designs could also could have the design issues that you'd see from other releases. In the sense that they'd be typical of the mid 90's.

But at least you could find cartoons on the back of these, and they'd highlight Iafrate's team move, as well as his skullet.

2018 Adventures in Repacks - Part 38

Just the Dollarama usual today. One 15-card hanger. One Surprise bag.

I'll start with the hanger, under the rule that it is really hard to pass on a card with a visible all-star uniform card.

Behind it. 7 straight junk wax cards. But at least that Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds card will give me the chance to use the 'dogs' tag on this post.

1994 Leaf was one of the less legible designs of the 1990s. That's a Stephane Matteau card. If I had to pick the set that a Senators card would come from, ITG Signature Series wouldn't be it. The other visible card in the pack was the Hall/Martin card. 2011 Between the Pipes appears to have been the only set with cards that featured the late Seth Martin.

The 90s pack. That is one quality mullet that Rick Tocchet is sporting. That's a 9/10 on the Jagr scale.

The promised rookie card comes from a rookie-only set, but I guess it still counts.

And the miscellaneous group of 6 is the final one of the repack. The Hextall card is actually a foil parallel, so that's more than what I expected.

Before things get a little busy around the blog, I might as well clear off two more Dollarama repacks. One $1 hanger and a Surprise bag. Which is pretty much the usual for me.

I'll start with the $1.

2000 BAP Signature - André Savage - An obscure Bruin sporting the Gentle Ben unis. That's worthy of a scan.

Will there be a card worthy of the snap holder? Likely not, but I'll still dig into these.

Not one, but two HOFers in the HOF pack. Even better, that's a new Al MacInnis for the Rangers alumni collection. We're late in the season now, as there's the second UD card from one of this year's releases in this post.

#3 is in the 2010s pack. Great photo choice on it as well.

Even the miscellaneous pack wasn't too bad. 3 of the cards not being from the junk wax era was 3 more than I expected. And even the JW stuff wasn't too bad. It may lack the poofiness of Jagr, but that's a nice mullet nonetheless that Todd is sporting.

There you have it!

And, as for the storm I referenced in the title...

2017 Adventures in Repacks - Part 11 - A legendary mullet.

Even Jaromir Jagr himself would bow down in appreciation of this one. Party in the back for days!

And the best thing is, there were 14 more cards accompanying this one! The notables (at least for me):

The outdoor game card, with the accompanying toque, was the reason I got this one. Team Canada cards are always fun additions to my misc. binder, especially the more obscure cards from the women's team. The front of Barry's card doesn't give a hint as to how spectacular the back will be. Emerald parallels and signature series base cards don't show up that often. I like the compact photo on the McCarthy. That's the second straight Top Prospects game card in one of these repacks. And even the junk wax added two cards to my Rangers alum binder. That's a mighty fine dollar!

The second of the two hangers was't nearly as amazing, but still had a few interesting cards:

I grabbed this for the Landeskog that ended up as the 3rd Rangers alum of this break. How did Mogilny spend 3 years with the Leafs, yet I still blanked on his entire stint in Toronto? The backs of 1993 Leaf must always be highlighted, and a goal-scoring celebration from Domi is a fine final card for this post.

2016 Adventures in Repacks: Part 41 - An 1800th post repack fest!

Is there any better way for me to celebrate my 1800th post than with some repack love with a trip to the Dollarama for a pair of hanger packs and Surprise Bag?

Starting with the hangers.

2011 Biography of a Season - Stanley Cup Champions - Any time you can add a card featuring the Cup to your collection, you have to go for it. With this card visible, anything else interesting would be a bonus.

1991 7th Inning Sketch - Tony Iob - Dear God! That mullet would bring tears of joy to Jaromir's eyes.
1991 Score - Tom Barrasso
1993 Premier - Dave Christian

2002 Pacific Stock Reserve - Andrew Cassels - I don't recall ever getting anything from this set in a $1 repack.

1994 Score - Jyrki Lumme - Determined to oust anything Fleer could offer as the ugliest mid 90's set.

Already a nice repack with the opening card, it became even better with Iob's spectacular mullet and an appearance of a Masterpieces card. How will the second pack match up?

2015 Overtime - Bobby Ryan - A new Sens card is always a great way to start. Especially when it comes from a distributor set.

I was really pumped to bust the Score, then the cards came out like a brick, and were kinda stuck together.

And there's the highlight (and also showing off a wee bit of peeling on the cards) - a completely forgotten stint of Pat Elynuik with Tampa.

I guess Filip Forsberg is the superstar here, and he also gets an interesting photo. But, as with Krivokrasov...

Must show back of 1993 Leaf.

And the all 80s, no 70s pack. At least that Secord is kinda cool.

I probably should have got two more hanger packs instead. But there you have it!
