Mailbag: Shoebox Legends

Back to the ol' mailbag for a bit, and a package that showed up from Shane @ Shoebox Legends last week.
To open up, here's what is probably the first buyback in my 2/14 collection. I'm really surprised it took me this long to add one of these to the collection, but not surprised on the source of it.
Since I'm building the Heritage base set this season, any assistance in knocking off SPs is very appreciated. Here's two more that dropped off the list. With the assistance of COMC, and my jumping on any SPs that drop below the $2 mark, I'm already less than 30 SPs away from that.
Random Mets, Jays and Expos content!

And now, the main event!
2001 Parkhurst autographs! Mike Bossy leads the way here. The good thing about these being autographs of retired legends is that the penmanship is stellar, as expected.
Here's a new face in the collection. A tidbit that I didn't know about him but that showed on his wikipedia entry was that he was a member of Canadian parliament for 4 years, all while still playing for the Leafs. That is even though it has been mentioned on some of his cards from the overlapping period.
I'm thinking they were supposed to sign in the diamond-ish shaped spot at the bottom of the card. I guess Lanny missed that memo. But it still pops nicely on the light-coloured portion of the background.

And there you have it! Thanks for these goodies Shane, especially the Red Kelly auto. I hope my PWE has found its way to you by now.

One Card Only: CB4

I probably should return to the mailbag sooner rather than later. However, after averaging over 50 cards per post going through the football portion of the repack shipment, I need a less scan-heavy option today.

And here it is:
This has been waiting to be posted since my Black Friday shipment showed up. I'd been looking to add a Chris Bosh autograph to my Raptors collection for a bit, and finally took the opportunity during the sales. Even better that among the least expensive options was an on-card auto and it is combined with one of my favourite design-options, an image of the player's city.

And for under $10? Perfect!

2019 Adventures in Repacks - Part 11.5 - Straight from the Source

The last of the football cards that fall under the SftS umbrella is this:
This is a hits-only repack that they offer, containing 5 cards, 4 relics and an auto. What bonuses awaited?
The relics start this off, and it is always good to start with a player I've heard of.
I remember Byron Leftwich as the Jaguars QB of the 00's that wasn't born on 2/14. The first of the three that were numbered parallels, with this being an infinite parallel. Shouldn't an infinite parallel be anything but a numbered card?
Here's a pair of photo shoot relics, with the Hill being /149.
More photo shoot relics on the final card, but they are joined by an autograph! And it is a Buffalo Bills card as well. That's definitely the best bonus of all! While Easley didn't get too many cards from his time in Buffalo, he spent 6 years with the team. And while the auto is just a little beyond the initials only standard, the jersey # is a nice inclusion.

Bonus cards is bonus cards, and I really liked the Easley and Leftwich hits. And not a plain white swatch in the group.

There you have it! I'll dig into the hockey and basketball cubes as well over the next while.

1989 Pro Set - Dalton Hilliard
1990 Pro Set - Pete Holohan
2007 Icons - Todd Heap
1990 Pro Set - Ron Hallstrom

2012 Score - Maurice Jones-Drew - A recent insert card.
2011 Score - Ndamukong Suh
1995 Action Packed - Stoney Case - The description on the back of the card clarifies that Stoney is his real name. That's scan worthy.
1992 Pro Set - Nate Odomes - The first Bills card in this final group.
1992 Fleer - Vinson Smith
1991 Platinum - Mike Munchak
1991 Portraits - David Treadwell - I like kicker cards. This photo is a wee bit questionable.
1991 Platinum - Chip Lohmiller - That's better.
1989 Score - Bruce Smith - Bills content! And it is Bruce!
1990 Pro Set - Raul Allegre - Kicker content!
1993 Playoff - Jeff Herrod
2007 Topps - Cedric Benson

1991 Topps - Vaugnan Johnson
1995 SKybox - Trent Dilfer
1990 Score - Eugene Marve
2010 Rookies & Stars - Alex Smith
1990 Pro Set - Bruce Smith - A dupe from an earlier post, but I'll still scan a Bruce Smith card.
1987 Topps - Sean McNanie - Bills content that isn't a dupe.
1990 Pro Set - John Offerdahl
1988 Topps - Jets Team
1991 Platinum - Mike Munchak
1994 Pinnacle - Errict Rhett
2000 T3 - Champ Bailey
1990 Pro Set - Raul Allegre
1982 Topps - Dan Hampton - This was the oldest card in the package. And it is a HOFer. Bonus!
2007 Gridiron Gear - Chad Johnson
1994 Stad. Club - Scottie Graham
1990 Pro Set - Fredd Young - This is one of my favourite types of photos in football - the defensive player with the ball.
1989 Pro Set - Dalton Hilliard
2012 Score - Jonathan Vilma
2015 Gridiron Kings - Andre Johnson - They might not be Diamond Kings, but Gridiron Kings are still fun.
1991 Pro Set - John Offerdahl
2015 Gridiron Kings - T.Y. Hilton - A good repack for Gridiron Kings Colts base.
1997 Donruss - Leslie O'Neal
2014 R&S - Larry Fitzgerald
1991 Portraits - Richard Williamson
1989 Pro Set - Craig Heyward
1991 Platinum - Dave Krieg - Another photo type in football I like - dirt infields from multi-purpose stadiums. Soon to be a thing of the past on cards.
1988 Topps - Al Toon
1991 Score - Ray Crockett
1990 Pro Set - Lindy Infante
1989 Score - Darrell Green
2011 Certified - Frank Gore - Frank has signed with Buffalo during the off-season. Close enough for Bills content.
1987 Topps - Tony Nathan
1990 Pro Set - John Roper
1991 Platinum - Clay Matthews
1990 Score - Dave Krieg - And another favourite photo type, again represented by Krieg - the QB running with the ball.
1991 Platinum - Jim Lachey
2000 UD - Terrell Owens - More dirt! And combined nicely with a celebratory photo.
1994 Skybox - Michael Brooks
1991 Platinum - Deion Sanders
2006 Turkey Red - LaBrandon Toefield - Turkey Red repack appearances are always worthy of a scan, especially of a guy named Toefield.
2009 Topps - Torry Holt - And the final card.

That was a lot of fun! I could definitely do this again with another cube. I'm not sure if there were 250 cards in there, and I'm not about to count them to make sure, but it did seem pretty full.

But there's still more football to come from this...

1994 Skybox - Quentin Coryatt
2012 Score - Darren Sproles
1993 Stad. Club - Derek Brown

1993 Stad. Club 1st Day Issue - Even with the Heyward auto, this might be the best card in the repack. A shorter printed RC of a HOFer.
1993 Pacific - Joe Montana - I can't complain about landing a Joe Montana, even if they could use a lesson in apostrophe usage.
1989 Topps - Anthony Miller
1991 Platinum - Ferrell Edmunds
1992 Pacific - Chris Zorich
2005 Topps - Kevin Curtis
1990 Pro Set - Steve Atwater

One more group of cards to go!
