I can't think of a way to pronounce his last name that doesn't make it seem like some sort of horrific assault on a woman. Soft 'i' ? That's bad. Long 'i'? At least she isn't mangled. Like former NHLer German Titov? That still seems really painful.Having a first name now associated with an Italian stereotype doesn't help.
