Happy Victoria Day!

I'm still awake, so I might as well get my annual Victoria Day Victoria post out of the way early. This might also be the most prominent appearance of her other Widow's Peak.

2020 Adventures in Repacks: Part 10.1 - Hockey Cubism

I said I ordered a trio of 250 card cubes, hockey, football and basketball, to go along with the Surprise bags I posted in the past weeks. Now is as good a time as any to start working my way through them. As with the previous ones, I'm breaking them down into 4 stacks of similar height, and listing all the cards.

Let's get at it!
2017 UD - Jared Spurgeon - And we're off!
2018 UD - Joel Edmundson
2016 Parkhurst - Teemu Selanne - I kinda wish the photo had been from his 54th goal celebration (the glove shooting), but this is still a nice insert.
2018 SPA - Colton Parayko
2004 ITG Franchises - Herb Lewis - My first Detroit Falcons card! There were a nice selection of inserts from this set in this repack, and I'm probably going to scan every one of them.
2009 Ultra - Steven Stamkos
2009 ITG 1972 TYiH - Pit Martin - And another set that I'll probably scan every card from.
2000 BAP Memorabilia - Gary Roberts
2000 Ice - Patrik Stefan - Some acetate.
2002 Pacific - Jamie Langenbrunner
2017 Tim Hortons - Corey Perry - And a food issue card.
1993 Score - Dominic Roussel - Mask binder content.
1990 UD - Chris Joseph
1991 Score - Rod Langway
1991 Score - Bob Sweeney
2016 The Cup - Alan Quine - I guess this is what they meant by 'Premium' on the packaging. He's now in the Flames system.
1990 UD - Adam Burt
1992 Classic - Cory Stillman
1993 Leaf - Mike Donnelly - Gotta scan the back of '93 Leaf cards.
2002 Stad. Club - Dennis Seidenberg
1993 Score - Theo Fleury
2006 ITG GftG - Stacy Wilson - The Women's team sees some love.
1991 Stad. Club - Mikko Makela
1993 UD - Ed Olczyk
1991 Pro Set - Jeff Lazaro
1995 Score - Darren Turcotte
1991 OPC - Flyers Team
1991 UD - Bob Probert
1991 Pro Set - Wendel Clark
2010 H&P - Cody Hodgson
1991 Score - Dave Capuano
1994 Donruss - Rob Zamuner - While I do love the '93 Leaf backs, I do like the look of these as well.
1993 UD - Pelle Eklund
1995 Pinnacle - Shean Donovan
2001 Pacific - Ryan Smyth
1991 7IS - Brent Brownlee
2009 ITG 1972 TYiH - Tony Esposito - Yup. I'm scanning all of these.
2013 Score - Ladislav Smid
2000 BAP Memorabilia - Jiri Fischer
2006 Ultra - Eric Lindros
2004 H&P - Timofei Shishkanov - Here's your AHL representation.
2003 MVP - Brian Rolston
2009 ITG 1972 TYiH - Darryl Sittler - A rare photo featuring Sittler attempting to grow a mustache. There's a reason there aren't many of these photos out there.
2004 ITG Franchises - Lowell MacDonald - I don't have a lot of dark blue Penguins uniforms in my collection.
2003 UD - Patrik Stefan - Face off photos are always great, and this one is perfectly timed to the moment the puck leaves the linesman's hand. I'm enjoying a Patrick Stefan card way more than I should.
2003 ITG Action - Paul Martin
1994 Classic - Nolan Baumgartner
1995 Classic - Terry Ryan
1992 Classic - Dwayne Norris - A great way to end this brief run of Classic - the dad of recent Senator call-up Josh Norris.
2011 UD - Brooks Laich
2015 UD - Adam Larsson
2016 UD - Zach Parise
2014 OPC - Retro - Nail Yakupov - A parallel.
2018 UD - Brian Elliott
2018 MVP - Brett Burns - Now that's how facial hair is done.
2016 UD - Brandon Saad - There's the first quarter.

And there you have it! No complains so far with the retro-ish cards from ITG and a completely random The Cup appearance. Another 1/4 of this next time.

It's Just a Box Break, You Should Really Just Relax - Part 3

All good breaks must come to an end, including these two boxes of MST3K cards. But here's some hits to take the edge off.
I didn't get any plates in the first two series of cards, but that changed here with a trio of them. Here's the cyan from the Vance mini-poster of Season 6's Girls Town.
Servo looks delightful here in nurse garb from Season 10's It Lives by Night.
Also Season 10 for plate #3, with the web making it obviously from Horrors of Spider Island.
Bat Servo! Even though I am Team Crow, it was nice to get a little bit of variety in my Bot art. This was sketched by Mai Irving, who also drew the P.T. Mindslap card from yesterday. You see, there was some method to my madness of which cards I showed off.
And my first sketch card of one of the humans! This Kinga is by Amanda Pattison, who also did the Donna St Phibes and Growler/Waverly cards from yesterday. Again - method. Madness.
And there were autographs in this as well! Each box contained one, and the first provided a Jim Mallon, who was an Executive Producer, but also provided Gypsy's voice. This is one of the white metal cards, which are the base versions.
Base versions means that there's parallel versions as well, and I got one of them! And it was of just another face in a red jumpsuit! WOO-HOO! I'm more of a Mike guy, since I work as a temp and feel a kinship. But in terms of hosting, I'm pretty neutral.
These gold parallels are hand-numbered to 6! And I really like how the certification is done with the photograph!

That was fun! Now I just have to get a binder, and a pile of pages to give these an even more worthy home!

It's Just a Box Break, You Should Really Just Relax - Part 2

And now, a whole bunch of drawn cards from the insert sets. Between these two, there's about 100 cards total, so I'm just hitting my personal highlights.
First up, a Rowsdower card. A trading card featuring one of Canada's most incredible superheroes (tied with Mr. Canoehead). This was all that this needed to make it a spectacular insert set.
But a card of Mr. B Natural also helps. Mr. B would also be seen in the sketch card gallery.
And let's show these off, starting with a ROBOT ROLL CALL! This one is done by Andy Moore, who drew the 1/1 sketch cards of Crow that I got in my Series 1 and 2 boxes. With all respect to Mr. Moore, I was happy that the ones I got this time were from different artists.
And let's not forget the newest bots aboard the ship, with Growler and M. Waverly.
Although he can also be found in the Claudiu sketches, I opted for the full colour version of Mark Hamill as P.T. Mindslap. Even if does give flashbacks to another legitimate contender for the worst movie ever shown aboard the SOL - Carnival Magic.
A little late for Turkey Day, but here's a suitable sketch.
He can do stupid things!
Nummy Muffin Coocol Butter is the babytalk name I use when I want to annoy my dog, That's worthy of a scan.
I'm not sure if this version of Dr. Forrester is one of the stranger entries into an interpretation of a character, or one of the best.
All ready to take care of the place when the master is away.
Dr. Donna St. Phibes might be the most recent character to make an appearance on one of these cards, having debuted in episode 1203 of the last Netflix season.
And I'll end this portion with the simple hope that your Christmas was the Swayziest.

Tomorrow: 3 printing plates! 2 sketch cards! 2 autographs!

It's Just a Box Break, You Should Really Just Relax

It took a few weeks, but I'm finally showing off the cards from a two box Kickstarter break of MST3K Series 3. Now there were a lot of cards in this final release - well over 400. So, I'm really just going to hit the highlights of many of the subsets, but I will highlight some of my favourite sketch cards tomorrow, and follow that up on Wednesday with the 1/1 plates, the 1/1 original sketch cards, and the autographs.
One of the continued insert sets were the Steve Vance mini-posters. I'd contacted the maker of the set hoping for maybe an extra Pumaman insert from this set, since it debuted in theaters on 2/14, making this a 2/14 card.

I got 20 of them. None of them fly. Like a moron or otherwise.

But only 1 will go into the 2/14 binder.
And here's the back. I've got 20+ of them. Might as well show it off as well!
The Episode guide portion of the set wraps up here, as it goes through the Sci-Fi and Netflix runs of the show. Here's the Screaming Skull's episode.
3D cards are back as well.
And the Riff-It series wraps up with three more public domain movies - Eegah, Night of the Blood Beast and Bride of the Monster.
Best of all, this adds a second new card to my 2-14 collection! One of the actors in this movie was Tyler McVey, who played the ill-fated, but still stinger-providing Dr. Alex Wyman. He is the 4th MSTed performer to make an appearance in the collection, joining Lois Maxwell, Edward Platt and Crash Corrigan. McVey was also in Attack of the Giant Leeches, but at doesn't appear that he made it into the set's Riff-It cards for that episode.

"Wounded animal that large isn't good!"
So, what's new in this? Lenticular cards! Think Sportflix. These all highlight the MST3K 'Poopie' blooper tape.
Also new in this, Rock Climbing cards!

Rock climbing, Joel. Rock climbing.

If only there were a fourth series, we could also get Sandstorm cards.
Puzzle cards are also in this. There's a fairly random scene on the front, with 9 images on the reverse to form a complete puzzle. There's both promotional photos like this one, as well as some more Vance posters in this.
Stickers!
And here's a very familiar design for 1984 Topps fans! I'm not sure why they used 1984 for these, seeing as the show didn't debut until several years later. But that's definitely a nerdy complaint.

And there's Part 1!
