Sens-ational Additions

After a one day break, I'm back to the COMC box, and covering the Senators content in the mailer. I'm leading with this card since it is the only one in the shipment that wasn't connected to e-packs in some way. Fountain played in 2 games over 2 seasons for the Sens, but he still counts towards the 'every Sen with a card' ever.
I guess Game Dated Moments cards count towards e-pack content. Ottawa's season was so amazing that they earned one card all season in this set. This commemorates Bobby Ryan's return to the team after taking time off for personal issues and picking up a hat trick in his first home game back.
Cheap Series 1 parallels and inserts!
Cheap Parkhurst!
Cheap Synergy! I think I paid less for the past 3 groupings of cards than I did for the GDM of Ryan.
And let's throw in a cheap relic for good measure. It might be a bland one-colour swatch, but at least it can be traced to a specific event.

And there you have it!

Murray Mania!

Staying with the COMC mailer, here's a bunch more cards featuring local NBAer Jamal Murray.

This was the only hit in the package, one of Panini's Rookie Remembrance inserts. These usually translate to "we still had a couple jerseys around from the opening photoshoot". I do have one that actually appears to be game-worn in my COMC inventory now, which would be my first when it comes to his relics.

There's something like 40 different parallels from Prizm this year, so it fits that I'd have some of them in my shipment. There's the Purple Wave, Red Ice, Red, White & Blue and Silver parallels. I still don't have the regular base card from this, though.

You don't get a really good look at the Nuggets' "Mile High City" jerseys with those Prizm cards, so here's a few more appearances thereof.

Perhaps a subset named 'Express Lane' shouldn't have such a busy design.

Shininess!

More shininess!

Shininess with teammates!

While some of his hits are costly from high range sets are costly, his base cards tend to go for a couple bucks from them. It is probably the only way I can add his cards from National Treasures, Dominion, Impeccable et al to the collection. And I'm just fine with that.

And there you have it!

Damage Done

When I hit ship on my latest COMC cards back in May, I was given an arrival date of late September. It showed up yesterday, giving me a 6-week bonus.

So, It looks like I'll be highlighting these for the next bit. First up, it was the major portion of the shipment, knocking out a bunch of cards from my set build of 2013-14 Rookie Anthology.

I'd already landed many of the major names from the Rookie Selection portion, namely the McKinnon , Galchenyuk, Rielly and the Forsberg. While I'd pulled several Barkov auto/relics from the other sets, I never got one of these.

If not for the Barkov, this Hertl would have been the big name.

The penmanship skills of the Dual Rookie Class weren't exactly the best, so that really leaves the battle between DeKeyser and Hertl for the nicest autograph in the group.

With apologies to my regular trading partner in Ann Arbor, I'm keeping this Trouba for the set.

There ended up being 13 total Rookie Selection cards in the shipment. Of the rest, I'm highlighting this because with the somewhat unexpected yellow swatch to make it the most colourful of the bunch. I now have 90 of the 96 cards in hand, 2 outstanding redemptions, 1 never-fulfilled redemption (Up yours, JT Miller) and 3 that will be in hand at some point.

I can always throw in a few bonus RA cards, such as this pair of Kitchener Rangers alums.

And I can also add a card from what might have been the only insert set I didn't pull a card from - Complete Rookies. L-R, theres a jersey relic, a seam, a patch and a fight strap piece.

There you have it! More from this shipment next post as I'll recap another pile of Jamal Murray additions.

All About the Penmansip

Another card that makes its way into the binders based solely on the handwriting skills of the signer. But it does also feature a classic jersey, amd a really nice design with great usage of team colours in the background.
And the classic logo on the back as well!

So there is more than just a nice signature for this card.

Raptors Catch-Up

Might as well get back to my COMC to-be-posted box, and showoff some Raptors content.
I'm never going to tire of Championship cards. Throw in the trophy, and they're automatic classics.
Staying with my championship theme, and my desire to get an auto of anybody who has a card and got a ring, here's an auto from one of the coaches. The local product probably got the biggest ovation among the coaching staff during the ring ceremony, aside from Nick Nurse.
Why am I showing the back of a Carlos Rogers card?
Because Skybox put Rodney Rogers on the front! As best I can see, no correction was ever issued. But this still counts as a Raptors addition.
Why scan the back of a CJ Miles card? It is a palindrome 1/1!
The front isn't as spectacular as the back, but this is a neon green die-cut parallel. Which still isn't as good as the 56/65.
This super-hyped Serge Ibaka photo was one of my favourites out of this year's Prizm release. While going for a complete rainbow would be insane, I wouldn't mind a page worth of these.
I also got the red, white & blue parallel of the Ibaka (1/3 of the way there!), so I'm scanning the Norman Powell for variety's sake.
But here's one more Serge for a bonus appearance of the master chef. This Fast Break Orange parallel is numbered to an odd /193.
You want more loud parallels? Here you go! This is an unnumbered Groove parallel.
A jersey number themed set? Sure! I just wish this were card #7 in the set. It is actually #12.
Final card is actually a plate. That's Delon Wright on a rookie patch card out of Flawless, although the plate itself was released with NT. Delon went to Memphis in the Gasol trade, and is now in Dallas.

And that's it! Next up, it will be Observation time.

Padding the Lead

I'll admit to being surprised when I entered all my Alfredssons into TCDB and learned I was in top spot. I'm not going to sit on this lead, so I instead added a bunch more to the binder via COMC, sportlots, and nhlhockeystickers.com. Let's see some of them!
I did mention stickers, so let's got all these out of the way early! Panini really liked that shade of blue for borders at the time.
He might only take up a quarter of this card, but that's a nice, solid group of players in the top of the rookie scoring race in 95-96.
I'm amused that the titles for the stats remain abbreviated in English on this Finnish card. I amuse easily.
The best thing about these cards being from the entirety of Alfie's career is the variety of uniforms on the cards.
Even this one.
And if you want a nice look at this logo, there's this Atomic card, which is also a reminder to clean my scanner bed.
After all, they are little harder to see on minis,
I did throw in a few numbered cards. None of these are parallels, they're the base cards from higher end sets.
And these are base cards too. Pacific never really did anything normally, did they?

But there's some Alfie. There were about 30 more where these came from. And now I'm just south of the 500 card mark.

New 2/14 Faces

I'm determined to get through my COMC to-be-posted content before I hit ship on the latest order. So, this weekend I will be getting caught up on the content in that box.
I'm opening with the newest wrestler addition to my collection in Lin Byron or her masked alter-ego of Ray. This also a pretty depressing entry, as she passed away from a brain tumour in August of 2018.
Two new ladies for the collection! I thought cards of her would be more plentiful, but realized I'd confused her with her sister Magdalena. A third sister, Katerina combined to make them the only sisters ever to be ranked in the Top 10 simultaneously.
A 1976 set that highlights the 1887 World Series adds Charles 'Pretzels' Getzein to my collection. He does have a vintage Allen & Ginter card, which will probably be my next add to the unreasonable want list.
A card of a team's general manager? Thanks, Smokey! Poile is now in that role with Nashville.
Cooperalls! Questionable hair! It must be an 80s hockey card! This does appear to be the only card David Lundmark got in his career. He's with the OHL's Kingston Canadians here, which, after a one-season stint as the Raiders, became the name they're still known as today - the Frontenacs.
And here's your big winner - a quartet of Bates Motel cards featuring Freddie Highmore. Unless someone starts releasing cards for The Good Doctor, this might be what his content is limited to.

There you have it! Familiar faces up next!
