The 2/14 Remainder

Finally, the last of the 2/14 stuff from my most recent COMC shipment.

If it is available at COMC, I count it as a potential add to my collection. That includes Pogs. Or Pog-like things, such as this, which were known as Matcaps. This is the first new appearance of the late Nelson Frazier in my collection, shown here as Mabel. Uh, he's the one in the middle of this.

Naturally, I had to try to find the match where this photo originated from, and it was fairly easy to do so. You can even see the camera flash that ended up commemorating this moment forever.
Richard Hamilton still made occasional appearances in Panini releases as their time with the licenses wound down. Fortunately, he's also showing up in Topps products so he can continue to build his lead in the collection, currently standing at 123 cards.
Ian Jackson will rocket up the listings with the next shipment, which, assuming I've not bought dupes, will contain 18 of his cards. As of now, the total is 6.
But 1 of those 6 is my first autograph of his. To be specific, this is a 2024 Skybox Metal Universe Champions Fresh Foundations Autograph /75.
Caroline Marks currently stands at 9 cards in the collection with these 3 additions. UD really liked using the photo on the right on her cards, so it is nice to go 3 for 3 for different photos. She also showed up on a First Pitch card in Series 1, and is the first 2/14er to end up on that insert set. That's another one also on the way in that COMC shipment, as part of 6 new additions of her.

So, that's it for 2/14s for now. At least until the 50 or so in my sportlots orders arrive,

There you have it!

Kickoff!

The CFL kicks off tonight with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats hosting the Montreal Alouettes. Always trying to stay topical, I had to look through my to-be-posted box for something appropriate. Fortunately, I had a pair of Game-Dated Moments cards from last year that had yet to appear on the blog.

Bo Levi Mitchell is coming off back-to-back seasons where he was the Eastern nominee as the most Outstanding Player. He still didn't get a base card in the 2024 release, but made up for it with 2 base cards and a checklist 1/2 appearance last year. And a trio of Game-Dated Appearances.
Kenny Lawler didn't even get those. This was his only card over the past two seasons. He just re-upped with the Tiger-Cats for 3 more seasons on a million dollar deal, making him the top-paid WR in the league. Maybe that will get him back into the sets.

So, with a hearty OSKEE WEE WEE, there you have it!

2026 Adventures in Repacks - Part 14 - Another Hat Trick

Time for 3 different Dollarama repacks.

As before, I'm going to recap these in order of cost. Showing off a Hurricanes card and a Golden Knights card in advance of the Stanley Cup Finals is about the most interesting thing here, especially with Jesper Fast blocking the alternate Jets unis.
All cardboard content in the Value Bundle.
Looking at the 2000s pack to start, and I will always believe that Peterborough Petes cards, outside of local sets, which should have some variety, should have the featured player wearing the classic maroon jerseys. I know I complain about the bland, colorless backgrounds on SP Authentic, but here it feels worse, as the player looks to have been shrunk too.
These usually seem to contain two recent cards, and three from the early 90s. When the oldest is a 1993, it at least feels different. Even if 21-22 does show up to rain on the parade.
A couple unexpected sets here. Considering it is an e-pack exclusive, Compendium always feels out of place in a lower end repack, especially when it features a major name.  Metal Universe also seems off for these, even if I've already shown off one as the visible cards. It's Jaccob Slavin on that hard to read card, BTW.
I won't show off everything in the Parkhurst pack, but here's a few highlights. The Potvin was probably the best of the bunch. Schlegel was a local guy. There's a couple mask binder cards, and Bob Probert is a fine choice to pair with the other horizontal card to make the scan a little more evening.
A shiny rookie to start the Picks pack. Even if this is in the cheap-o range at COMC, it is of a player who still played in the NHL in 25-26. That's a plus!
A Sens card! And it is a parallel as well! To be specific, it is a blue parallel out of 2023-24 SP Retail. That's enough for me to proclaim this repack the winner of this unofficial battle. But there's still a few more cards left.
Now that is a shiny parallel. It is out of 2022-23 Ice, and the oranges are the second most common of the hobby parallels behind the greens.
Another rookie appearance. Sanford is now playing overseas, but he was part of a Stanley Cup winning team while in the NHL, lifting the trophy as a member of the Blues in 2019.
That's an unexpected ending, even if I've found numbered cards in these before. This one isn't just a blue parallel. This one is a ROYAL blue parallel. That classier than the mere blue parallel that appeared earlier.

Even if the opening pack was pretty blah, there were still some keepers as I went through everything, and that's all I ask!
